BEACH Just down the street is the Ed Walline Regional Beach Access. There is a handful of parking spaces that can be used for both cars and golf carts, however, the lot fills up fairly early. Try to get there in the morning if you want a parking spot. Overflow parking is along the street. There are restrooms and an exterior wash-off shower at this location. We have 6 chairs and 3 umbrellas but recommend your renting as needed if you don’t have your own.
BIKE or Hike Trail Access:Longleaf Pine Trailhead. Less than a mile away is the entry to the Longlead Pine Trailhead. Enjoy these trails for either biking or running, but note that its sand riding and can be a bit challenging. For a nice one-hour round trip bike excursion from our house, take the trail to Old Blue Mountain Rd and head back to the house on 30A. This is an amazing national park right in our own backyard. Hope you enjoy it!
There is a great easy trail all the way down 30A, and we encourage you to take advantage.
Sea Blaster Cruise. https://destinseablaster.com/ 850-654-6888. If you are looking for a fun afternoon, we recommend taking the trip into Destin for this dolphin cruise. We have done this on several occasions, and every time, we have a blast. Bring your hat and sunscreen as there is no shade on this cruise. At first it looks like you made a mistake, but once the boat launches and the music comes on, this crew will make sure you have a great time. They server soft drinks to kids and all you can drink beer and wine to the adults. You might even see a few dolphins. Parking is at the Harbor Walk Village. Look for parking across 98 at the Destin Community Center if the main parking lot is full. Have fun!
The Back Porch.http://www.theback-porch.com/welcome/ 850-837-2022 After you are done at Harbor Walk Village, we recommend having lunch at The Back Porch. This is a popular local seafood spot overlooking the water, very family friendly, with great food. Take your shoes off and go down to the beach or find their full-time stowaway tenant (cat) that has been living there for years. There will probably be a wait for your table, but it is well worth it. Mostly street parking, but we have always been able to find a spot. The Big Chill. www.thebigchill.com Formerly known as The Hub, the Big Chill is a a great casual outdoor food hall, shopping, and entertainment venue. They have a variety of food options, great shopping, and a lineup of live music. Check out their website for upcoming events and enjoy the live music!
